County Health Administrator/Health Officer
Cheyenne County Hospital has an opening for the County Health Administrator/Health Officer. This position is under the supervision of the Cheyenne County Hospital as the governing body, the Administrator/Health Officer is responsible for the management of the County Health Department.
Job Summary:
Duties include immunizations, child health and adult health nursing programs, and communicable disease control. Work includes planning for and carrying out public health nursing programs and coordinating these programs with related services. Responds to public health emergencies by providing care and coordinating response efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Develops, establishes, and implements educational, clinical, medical department/outreach public health programs based on the public health needs of Cheyenne County
- Educates and provides public service announcements as needed to physicians, citizens and other health care providers regarding public health concerns, threats, and interventions
- Comply with KDHE guidelines for communicable diseases and other health concerns assuring timely investigation, data collection, and implementation of epidemiological interventions

Use exceptional customer service skills to respond to community needs, enhance public relations, coordinate activities, and represent the Cheyenne County Health Department in order to promote and maintain a positive public health image and foster pride and professionalism in the workplace and community
- Develops, implements, and reviews emergency management plans and operating procedures and reports.
- Provides immunizations and health screenings in the community
Job Qualifications:
- Previous experience in nursing administration or high-level nursing supervision
- Knowledge and capacity of community interaction including planning, organizing, coordinating, and networking with other organizations and programs
- Knowledge of fiscal management, including budget and grant preparation
- Principles and procedures of public health, home health, hospice, and environmental programs
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Communication is effective and efficient by and between the Boards, staff, contracted entities, general public and volunteers
- Complete position-specific training for public health emergency response activities
Education:
- Need to be a registered state licenses nurse (RN)
- A bachelor's or associate degree in nursing required
- CPR Certification
